Fees and Refunds

The fee, cancellation, deferral and refund position for CC Education and the third-party course providers we refer learners to.

This policy explains how refunds, cancellations, replacements, credits and remedies are managed for CC Education. Nothing in this policy limits rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law. Refunds and remedies depend on the type of product or service purchased, the reason for the request, whether the product or service has been accessed or delivered, and whether a major or minor problem exists. CC Education is operated by Career Calling International Pty Ltd (ABN 53 162 651 238) as part of CAQA Groups.

No payments are taken through this website

CC Education is a course-discovery and pathway-advice website for learners, career changers, international learners and employers. We do not sell courses on this website, and we do not process enrolment fees, deposits, subscriptions or card payments through it. Course matching and pathway advice provided at the enquiry stage is free of charge. Because no money changes hands on this website, there is nothing to refund for the use of the website itself. This policy therefore focuses on what happens with the fees you may pay to a course provider we refer you to.

Fees charged by course providers

Where you enrol in a course after a referral from CC Education, the fees are set, invoiced and collected directly by the enrolling education or training provider under its own published fee schedule. That schedule may include tuition fees, enrolment or administration fees, materials fees and, for international learners, overseas student health cover and related costs. Payment plans, census dates, fee deadlines and government subsidy or loan arrangements are all matters between you and the provider. Before you accept any offer, ask the provider for its fee schedule and refund policy in writing and keep a copy.

Cancellation by you before commencement

If you change your mind before a course starts, notify the provider in writing as early as possible. Most providers apply notice periods that determine how much of any prepaid fee is refundable, and some offer a cooling-off period. CC Education can help you prepare and lodge a cancellation request with a provider we referred you to, but the decision and the refund are made by the provider under its policy and any applicable law.

Deferral and transfers

Many providers allow you to defer your start date or transfer to a different intake, course or delivery mode instead of cancelling. Deferral is normally subject to intake availability, and fees or course versions may change between intakes. International learners should also check the visa implications of any deferral or transfer before requesting one. Ask the provider to confirm the conditions of a deferral in writing.

Cancellation by the provider

If a provider cancels a course before it starts, or ceases to deliver it after you have commenced, you will generally be entitled to a refund of unspent prepaid fees or an agreed transfer to an equivalent course, in line with the provider's terms, tuition protection arrangements that apply to Australian vocational and higher education students, and your statutory rights. If this happens with a course we referred you to, contact us and we will help you understand your options and find an alternative pathway if you want one.

Third-party course-provider rules

Every provider we refer learners to maintains its own refund policy, and that policy, together with the law, governs any refund of fees you paid to that provider. CC Education cannot direct a provider to issue a refund, waive a fee or vary its published policy. What we can do is help you raise the request, provide records of your enquiry and referral, and support you through the provider's complaints process if the first response is unsatisfactory.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply to services supplied to consumers in Australia and cannot be excluded. If a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy from the supplier of that service, which may include a refund for a major failure. If you believe a consumer guarantee has not been met, whether by a provider or in relation to anything supplied by us, raise it with the supplier first and seek independent advice from your state or territory consumer affairs body if it is not resolved.
